The Digital SAT launched in March 2024 and changed several core aspects of the test. If you're using old prep materials, you might be studying the wrong things.
Time: The Digital SAT is 2 hours 14 minutes, down from 3 hours. Each section has fewer questions but more time per question. This rewards accuracy over speed.
Adaptive testing: The test has two modules per section. Your performance on Module 1 determines the difficulty of Module 2. A harder Module 2 means a higher scoring ceiling. This is the biggest strategic change.
Reading and Writing: Passages are shorter (25-150 words vs. 500-750 words). Each passage has only one question. This eliminates the old strategy of spending time on passage comprehension. Now it's about quickly identifying the relevant evidence.
Math: You can use a calculator on the entire math section (Desmos is built in). The old no-calculator section is gone. This shifts emphasis from mental math to problem setup and interpretation.
Scoring: The scale is still 400-1600, but the adaptive structure means your raw score maps differently to scaled scores depending on which Module 2 you received. Cognify's score prediction accounts for this adaptive structure.
